It wasn’t long ago, that contractors didn’t need websites, but today things are a little different and we do. If you don’t have a website for your construction company, there is no time like the present for you to get one. Normally that’s not the case for most contractors. The more customers you have, the higher prices you can charge and the more money you can make. That’s the way most businesses operate and the construction business isn’t any different.

If you don’t have a website, find someone to build one for you or get some more information on building your own website. If you do have a website, you need to make sure that you have as much information about your construction company on it as possible.

You should have your company name, the contractor’s name, e-mail address and business telephone number in large font. Make sure that these items are easy for anyone to read. The last thing that you want to do, is to have problems with new customers accessing your contact information.

How about contractor testimonials? These would be excellent things to have on your website. Having your old and previous clients selling other potential customers is the best way for any contractor to make money in the construction business. List as many of them as possible, because this could be all the difference in the world, between you getting the job and another contractor.

Make your website colorful and provide your website viewers with plenty of pictures. I have more pictures on my website than anything else. A picture is worth a thousand words so a thousand pictures would be the equivalent of one million words on your website.

You’re going to need to be creative and to get more ideas, start surfing the Internet and looking at other construction company’s websites. Good luck and happy website building. Remember you’re a builder, so building a website shouldn’t be difficult.

When you are getting ready to open your Internet website avoid sending users to the site before it is ready. Using the “under construction” front page gives potential customers a poor image of your business. They may think that you are not in business or that you went bankrupt. There are many web site programs that can be used. If you are unfamiliar with using them you may want to enlist the help of a qualified web site designer. They can help you choose a layout, colors, navigation and graphics. They will help you determine the best links to use and what content to put on the site. Some will even supply professionally written copy for inclusion on your site. Using a professional will help to ensure that all the links work and that the site doesn’t take too long to load.

To make sure that you don’t get stuck with an “under construction” sign talk to your website host company. Ask them not to mark the site as active until a specific date that you agree to. That way you can have time to design your web site before taking it online. Be open to changes. Once your site is active always test it to be sure that all the links work properly.
